Chinese-English dictionary for Mac OS X Dictionary.app

The existing CEDICT dictionary plugin has not been updated in a few years. I have created the CC-CEDICT dictionary plugin for the following reasons:

Installation

Unzip CC-CEDICT.dictionary and copy the file to /Library/Dictionaries/

Configuration

To edit the configuration, open /Applications/Dictionary select the Dictionary menu then click Preferences (or press the Command-, hotkey).

Tips/Tricks

Most applications in Mac OS X support the dictionary lookup hotkey. Simply move your mouse over a word or highlight a specific portion of a word or phrase. Then press the Command-D hotkey. The dictionary application will display a tooltip with the definition next to the word.

Note: to speed up the time this tooltip is displayed. Open Dictionary.app's preferences window. You can disable dictionaries you do not wish to use. Also, you can drag the dictionaries up in the list to change the order they are searched in. For example, you could move CC-CEDICT to the top of the list, ensuring that any Chinese words or phrases would be matched there first.
